Igor Kolakovic appointed as Iran volleyball coach
After negotiations with several famous coaches in the last month, Iran Volleyball Federation appointed Igor Kolakovic as new Team Melli head coach.
He has penned a two-year contract with option to extend an additional two years.
“The federation of Iran contacted me on December 30th with an official e-mail to start negotiation. They asked me to make and send them a short plan for a four years period which I did,” Kolakovic told Tehran Times after the federation called him to be a new coach of men's team after they parted ways with Raul Lozano.
As a coach of Serbia he won two silver medals in World League and one bronze, one gold and one silver at the European championship but also two bronze medals. And also bronze in World Cup.
The 51-year-old Montenegrin coach led the team on two Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 (5th) and London 2012 (9th).
Iran volleyball federation had also negotiated with Bulgarian Radostin Stoychev, Argentine Carlos Javier Weber, Italian Mauro Berruto and Andrea Anastasi.
